Congratulations to all our teams for outstanding efforts on and off the field. Our success is measured by the growth and development of our members into quality softball players that can compete at an elite level. We were rewarded at every age division. We are so proud of our teams. Each team matured as players and earned success on the field. Our 10u captured 2nd place in Reno. Our 12u team championship earned a berth to the Nationals in Moline, Illinois. Our 14u team finished fifth in the NFSPA championship in Oregon. Our 16u team battled to finish 9th out of 104 teams at the AFA Nationals in Blue Springs, Missouri.

This fall, our 18u team captured two championships and were able to travel to college exposure tournaments. It was exciting to see so many of our teams playing well and into the championship play. The 2005 season should be exciting.

We cannot sustain this level of competition without the fund raising at bingo and the dedication of all the coaches: Ron Clarke, Mark Nakatani, Ed Houk, Mike Gray, the players and the parents. Thank you for a great year!

Scholarships

The California Tornadoes offer scholarships to eligible seniors with awards ranging from $250 to $1000. Applications and information on the scholarships can be obtained at our website.

Eligibility requirements are as follows: The player must have played a minimum of two complete summer seasons with the Tornadoes, at least one of those seasons with our oldest available age division. Must be a graduating senior. Must submit two (2) letters of recommendation - one from the    applicant’s high school teacher and/or administrator. Must type hardcopy application or type online application. Must be a member in good standing with the Tornadoes, bingo current, uniforms returned and no indebtedness. Minimum overall GPA of 2.75.

This is a great opportunity to offset the rising costs of college. Check out our website for more information and the application - remember, the scholarship deadline is the last day of February.

11th Annual Crab Feed

Each year, the California Tornadoes host a fantastic Crab Feed to raise money for our scholarship fund. The 2005 Crab Feed will be held on January 29, 2005 at the Ulatis Community Center at 1000 Ulatis Drive, Vacaville.

This fun filled evening includes dinner, dancing, music and a dynamite raffle. Doors open at 5pm and the event concludes at midnight. The raffle is a huge fundraiser. If you care to donate or can solicit donations, we’d really appreciate it. Contact Rick Niedzwiecki for more information or donations.
